To help reduce the wait time for a study permit at Immigration in the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) students with a Study Permit Approval letter from IRCC are now able to able to enter information using the new Voluntary Compliance Portal. This information gives the Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) time to review and print study permits before the student arrives to YVR. This process is voluntary and not required. If you do not complete this process it will take longer to process your study permit when you arrive at YVR.
To use this online portal, you must meet the following:
- Vancouver International Airport (YVR) must be your first point of entry into Canada. You cannot connect to YVR via a domestic flight; and
- You must have a letter of introduction from IRCC (study permit approval); and
- You must submit all the mandatory information at least 72 hours in advance.
Information you must submit to www.yvr.ca/en/students:
- Unique Client Identifier (UCI) – This can be found on the letter of introduction issued by IRCC
- Last Name
- Date of arrival into YVR
- Arrival flight number
